Our Acting for Camera classes at Lion Academy are designed for students aged 12 and up who have a passion for performing on screen and exploring the world of creative media.
This unique course goes beyond traditional acting, offering hands-on experience with camera technique, editing, vlogging, podcasting, and digital storytelling.
Students learn how to adapt their performance for the lens, explore voice and presence for recorded media, and build confidence both in front of and behind the camera.
Whether your child dreams of becoming a screen actor, content creator, or filmmaker, this class offers a flexible, skills-based approach. We offer optional graded qualifications through Trinity College for Acting for Camera, as well as vlogging and podcasting exams through Rockschool—giving students the opportunity to work towards recognised credentials. It’s the perfect space for young creatives to develop their talent, explore media, and express their voice in a modern, supportive environment.

Our Acting for Camera classes are perfect for ages 12+, combining on-screen performance with creative media skills. Students explore acting for the lens, recording, editing, podcasting, and vlogging, with the option to work towards Trinity College or Rockschool exams. A unique class for young creatives passionate about both performing and producing.

Your Tutor - Benjamin
ABRSM GRADE 8 PIANO & THEORY, LTCL DIPLOMA COMPOSITION (TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON), MFA IN ORCHESTRATION & COMPOSITION FOR FILM & TV
Benjamin is a Composer and Pianist. Attaining Grade 8 in Piano and Music Theory from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Benjamin attended the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts before Graduating from Trinity College of London with a LTCL in Composition. Benjamin continued his studies in Composition and focused on writing for Media applications and studied at the University of Chichester acquiring a Masters of Fine Arts in Composition & Orchestration for Film & TV.
Training at the Academy of Live & Recorded Arts and Graduating in 2012, Benjamin worked as an Actor musician, performing in various productions Leeds Playhouse, Nottingham Playhouse, Royal & Derngate Northampton, Nuffield Theatre Southampton, New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich.It is is from this fusion of both music and Acting that Ben was inspired to create Lion Academy to celebrate both disciplines and inspire the next generation.

We advise children from the age of 6 upwards benefit from one-to-one lessons. However some younger children can still benefit with shorter lessons.

Yes. We encourage students to pursue examinations, as Grades 6 upwards gain UCAS Points for University. We also offer exam tuition in Classical/Folk/Pop and Musical Theatre depending on what the student may want to pursue.

No. Exams are extremely beneficial in improving confidence and technique, however sometimes they can be scary and time consuming. Some students prefer lessons for enjoyment and a break from all those devices!
