At Lion Academy of Music, our bass guitar lessons focus on groove, rhythm, and musical foundation. Students learn essential techniques such as fingerstyle and pick playing, scales, arpeggios, and how to lock in with the drums to drive the band.
From classic rock and funk to pop and indie, our lessons are tailored to your preferred style and skill level. Beginners will build strong fundamentals, while more experienced players can refine tone, timing, and improvisation through practical, song-based learning.

We have a 100% exam pass rate and regularly submit students in exams with these current boards ABRSM, LCM, RSL (Rockschool) and Trinity College London.

Our talented guitar team—Pete and Rik—bring years of experience and a passion for teaching to every lesson. Together, they offer expert tuition in acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and ukulele, catering to all ages and skill levels. Pete also specialises in Tenor Banjo and Mandolin, making our string offering even more versatile. Whether you’re picking up your first chord or diving into advanced techniques, you’re in great hands with Pete and Rik.

We advise children from the age of 6 upwards benefit from one-to-one lessons. However some younger children can still benefit with shorter lessons.

Yes. We encourage students to pursue examinations, as Grades 6 upwards gain UCAS Points for University. We also offer exam tuition in Classical/Folk/Pop and Musical Theatre depending on what the student may want to pursue.

No. Exams are extremely beneficial in improving confidence and technique, however sometimes they can be scary and time consuming. Some students prefer lessons for enjoyment and a break from all those devices!
