Ukulele Lessons for All Ages & Levels
Our Ukulele lessons at Lion Academy cover the full family of instruments—Soprano, Concert, Tenor, Baritone, and even Ukulele Bass. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to develop your playing further, our lessons are fun, accessible, and tailored to your goals. The ukulele is an excellent introduction to fretted instruments thanks to its compact size and simple chord shapes, but it’s also a rich and expressive instrument in its own right.
From strumming your first song to advanced fingerpicking and performance pieces, our experienced tutors will guide you every step of the way. We support students working towards graded exams (up to Grade 8), or those who simply want to enjoy making music. With its versatility across genres—from pop and folk to jazz and traditional Hawaiian styles—the ukulele offers endless possibilities for creativity and confidence-building.
We have a 100% exam pass rate and regularly submit students in exams with these current boards ABRSM, LCM, RSL (Rockschool) and Trinity College London.

Our talented guitar team—Pete and Rik—bring years of experience and a passion for teaching to every lesson. Together, they offer expert tuition in acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and ukulele, catering to all ages and skill levels. Pete also specialises in Tenor Banjo and Mandolin, making our string offering even more versatile. Whether you’re picking up your first chord or diving into advanced techniques, you’re in great hands with Pete and Rik.

We advise children from the age of 6 upwards benefit from one-to-one lessons. However some younger children can still benefit with shorter lessons.

Yes. We encourage students to pursue examinations, as Grades 6 upwards gain UCAS Points for University. We also offer exam tuition in Classical/Folk/Pop and Musical Theatre depending on what the student may want to pursue.

No. Exams are extremely beneficial in improving confidence and technique, however sometimes they can be scary and time consuming. Some students prefer lessons for enjoyment and a break from all those devices!
