The Lion Academy is proud to offer 1-2-1 flute lessons.
Our flute lessons offer a joyful and supportive way to learn one of the most elegant and expressive instruments in the woodwind family.
Whether you’re a beginner learning your first notes or an advancing player preparing for graded exams, we provide personalised lessons tailored to your goals.
Students will build strong foundations in breath control, embouchure technique, finger coordination, and tone development, all while exploring a range of styles from classical and folk to pop and film music.

Technique
Flute technique focuses on developing controlled breathing, a well-shaped embouchure, precise finger coordination, and smooth articulation to produce a clear, resonant tone across all registers.
Confidence
Our Flute Lessons are a great way to build up confidence in a fun and encouraging atmosphere.
Grades
Although optional, achieving grades is extremely beneficial in improving confidence and technique
🎷Your Tutors - Will & Monique 🎷
Our woodwind tutors, Monique and Will, bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to their lessons. Monique teaches flute alongside singing, piano, and drama, while Will specialises in saxophone, clarinet, and flute, and also teaches beginner piano. Both are passionate about nurturing musical confidence in students of all ages, whether you’re picking up a woodwind instrument for the first time or preparing for graded exams.

We advise children from the age of 6 upwards benefit from one-to-one lessons. However some younger children can still benefit with shorter lessons.

Yes. We encourage students to pursue examinations, as Grades 6 upwards gain UCAS Points for University. We also offer exam tuition in Classical/Folk/Pop and Musical Theatre depending on what the student may want to pursue.

No. Exams are extremely beneficial in improving confidence and technique, however sometimes they can be scary and time consuming. Some students prefer lessons for enjoyment and a break from all those devices!
