Music Theory
Music Theory
Music Theory is the study of the building blocks of music. It helps understand why Composers, Producers and Songwriters do what they do. We examine Notation, Scales, Instrumentation, Harmony and Composition.
Many students ask why is Music theory relevant to playing the Piano or Guitar? Well The Lion Academy Team believe Music Theory is vitally important and are passionate in our approach to musical training – having at least a basic understanding of Music Theory can help students conquer their instrument, help with GCSE and ultimately create more proficient musicians.
Furthermore, when musicians study a chosen instrument and follow the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music syllabus, they must pass their Grade 5 Theory before continuing Grades 6-8.
Grades 6-8 carry the highest amount of UCAS points and can help our older students gain places in their chosen universities, not to mention those who seek to understand songwriting, composition & music theory.
