The Lion Academy of Music provides 1-2-1 lessons in Guitar, Ukulele, Bass and even the very exciting Mandolin!
The Mandolin like the 12 string Guitar has double strings. This gives the player the incredible ability to play tremolo.
We are very passionate about teaching more and more students the Mandolin. We provide expert tuition with a relaxed but encouraging approach.
Students will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of how to play the Mandolin and how to adapt existing musical skills for this quite unique instrument.
We can teach Mandolin to absolute beginners or guitarists or other instrumental players that want to add another quite literal string to their bow!
We have a 100% exam pass rate and regularly submit students in exams with these current boards ABRSM, LCM, RSL (Rockschool) and Trinity College London.

Daniel Bottomley
Dan has always been obsessed with music. Learning countless instruments, and playing in orchestras, wind bands and jazz bands throughout school, he eventually discovered the electric guitar and bass and instantly fell in love. As a vital part of his career as an actor musician he’s played guitar in theatre shows from Pitlochry to Hong Kong. Most recently acoustic guitar in the first UK tour of Once the musical.
Dan holds a distinction in Grade 8 electric guitar and is also classically trained on the piano, saxophone and french horn.
An award nominated sound designer and composer, Dan enjoys every possible facet of music and music production and is keen to pass on that enthusiasm to future students!

Absolutely! Adults are welcome, whether your looking to expand on Vocal technique or want to pick up a new hobby!
We advise children from the age of 6 upwards benefit from 1-2-1 lessons.
Yes. We encourage students to pursue singing exams, as Grades 6 upwards gain UCAS Points for University. We also offer exam tuition in Classical/Folk/Pop and Musical Theatre depending on what the student may want to pursue.
No. Exams are extremely beneficial in improving confidence and technique, however sometimes they can be scary and time consuming. Some students prefer lessons for enjoyment and a break from all those devices!
